More nautical-inspired typography, emulsion paint on an old bathroom cabinet door.
Great night at The Melton Times Business Awards last night. For the past year I have been creating seasonal illustrations on The Melton Bookshop’s windows (see illustrations below) and a few months ago we found out we had been nominated for the ‘Best Shop Front’ award. Nomination proceeded to longlist, longlist to shortlist and last night we won the prize! So happy for the shop and childishly delighted to have my name on a plaque! It’s now standing pride of place in the bookshop’s window.
Spring – Aslan the lion
Summer – Sealife
Autumn – Woodland beasties
Winter – many snowflakes
I’m finally getting round to actually doing some artwork to print on homemade greetings cards. It’s a lot different and more cutesie than my other work but as I live in market town with a population who’s average age is over 60, I figured that I may have a slightly larger market for fluffy farm animals than my usual monstrous characters. These images are all A5 and created using ink, watercolour, fineliner and white pen and took about 40 minutes each. My university tutors were always telling me to do quick imagery, hope this was fast enough for them.
